What exactly is this blog all about, you might ask? Well, I intend for it to be a collection of my thoughts and creations, occasional pictures, and probably some of my stranger dreams if I have writer's block.
Disclaimer: Everything that I say is truth (or at least, my honest feelings and beliefs); however, I've learned that a lot of people don't particularly care for the directions that my thoughts go. Therefore, if you are one of those people who is going to get angry when you discover that my idea of 'God' is 'Sacrilegious' in your point of view, do yourself a favor and simply navigate away from the page and pray for your god to save my soul in private, if you must. If you decide to try and push your religion on me, I will argue with you. I love to argue. I know that other people love reading arguments (don't lie) so I won't bother hiding the comment posts that we're arguing in either. The same goes for anyone else who tries to force their thoughts of any kind on me in a rude or intrusive manner. If you want to make other people read YOUR thoughts, start your own blog, eh? For everyone else though, please comment if you feel the urge! I want to read what you think as long as it's posed in a respectful manner.
Phew, glad I got that off my chest. That said, I would also like to let you know that the dreams I have can be very disturbing and sometimes even bloody; if I wind up posting those in the future I will change my blog to "Adult Readers Only" so as not to offend any tender minds. I do call them dreams and not nightmares, however, because I don't consider a dream to cross into nightmare territory until it wakes me up with a scream in my throat. Thankfully I'm pretty used to having weird dreams, so nightmares happen very rarely. ^_^
This is my dream journal. I've been keeping my dreams here since 1999, since I was 13 years old. It's pretty ragged and beat up, but it has a very cute interior, as you can see in the next picture.
From this at age 13,
To this (which I wrote just yesterday). Pretty neat, huh?
So while I'm running at the mouth, I should explain my blog name; NoviceFeathers. A Novice is an apprentice or student of something; for me, it's life in general. I love to learn. I have been an intensely curious person since I was little and it simply hasn't faded over time. I honestly think my budget is the only thing keeping me from pursuing full-time school. I did try getting financial aid, but they said I was making too much money (Ha!) and I was too discouraged to try again. But anyway, back to learning. I'm learning how to cook, how to clean strange messes (often linked to the cooking part) and I'm obsessed with learning how to do crafts of all kinds. My favorite crafts are counted cross-stitch and plastic canvas, and currently I'm learning how to crochet, sew (by hand...sewing machines are terrifying) and very soon I'll be learning how to spin. Yes, that's right! I already have the roving, now I'm just waiting to get my hand on a drop spindle, which is much less expensive than the full spinning wheel I was going to go for at first. I also love to draw, color and read. I will read anything. Anything. Give me a book and I cannot give it back until I've read the very last page, the afterword, the epilogue, and the serial numbers on the back cover if it has one. I even read the copyright page.
As to the feathers part...well, I've always been close to birds. When I was little, we rescued a baby robin that had fallen out of a tree. We kept it in a cage so it would be safe at night, then in the daytime brought it to the garden so it could hunt worms and such. When it was big enough to fly we stopped bringing it inside at night, but when we went to the garden it would still let us hold it and stroke its wings. At the end of the summer it finally left and returned only a couple times to look at us thoughtfully before flying away again. (I like to think it was a thoughtful glance, anyway. I was eleven at the time) After that, mom started up a tropical bird aviary with parrots, parakeets, Lorries, Finches and I don't even remember what else. I used to gather up the colorful feathers from the cage bottoms and use them in my crafts. Eventually she had to get rid of them all, but by that time I had gained a great fondness for Ravens. This gained me the nickname "Lady Raven", which was used interchangeably with "Big Sister" (I was the oldest of my friends back home.) So; Novice because I'm always learning, and Feathers because I'm still fond of those memories.
Anyway, that's my introductory post. Thank you for being patient enough to read it all! I will try to post at least twice a week and I will grovel and apologize if I fail. Until then, take care!
